It is possible to find cheap cars for sale under 1000 dollars that run decently, if you know where to look. Of course, the condition you get the car in depends entirely on the seller. You might find a car for this price that runs pretty well on its own, or you could get one that needs repair from a mechanic. Finding these cars should be easy, if you turn to your local newspaper. Often these cars are from the original seller who doesn’t need the car anymore, or from a couple who got married and has decided that one car is enough. Generally they are older cars and might have problems, but they could be easy to iron out and a more reliable ride than some of the cars on the market today.  High gas prices have made many people turn to other options when it comes to transportation. Most of the cars on the market today are large, either trucks or SUVs, barely getting 20 MPG. This type of vehicle can rain stress on your checkbook or wallet, especially if you are uncomfortable with paying such high gas prices in order to get to and from work. Thus, replacing the cost of a vehicle with one that does not cost as much as been the direction many Americans are turning. Websites like Auto Trader are available for people to advertise their vehicle for sale, often less than the Blue Book value because they want to get rid of it quickly. Other sites online to find cheap ca#rs for sale un#der $1000 include eBay and Craigslist.

If you do not want to use the Internet to find your potential new vehicle, then you can turn to the local newspaper. Most newspapers allow you to sell items under $1,000 for a fee, but if you cannot find any in your local newspaper, the next best place to turn is a bulletin board or community board. These bulletin boards an be found in your local parks, your grocery stores, and even in gas stations in town. Barring all of these options, you might be able to find someone who is selling their older car directly out of their yard with a for sale sign on it.

Because $1,000 is such a low pricepoint for a car, you should expect to search for the perfect car for quite some time. This is because many people are not willing to let an older car go for such a price unless it has a lot of things wrong with it. Of course, before you purchase any car from a lot or from someone personally, you should bring a mechanic and have them check it out to be sure it is worth buying. If your mechanic says it has severe problems that could cost more than $1,000 to fix, wouldn’t you be better off purchasing a car for $2,000 and forgoing all of the problems? Many people do not take this into account when they are looking for a cheap car, so do not let this become a thorn in your side.
